Overview

JamDrive uses a structured 13-step onboarding process to ensure every merchant is fully set up for success. This tutorial walks you through each step in detail. If you want a faster path to going live, see the Quick Start Guide.

What You'll Need Before Starting

Gather these documents and information:

The 13 Steps

1

Welcome

What happens: You register on the JamDrive merchant platform at merchant.jamdriveja.com and create your account.

Action required:

  1. Visit merchant.jamdriveja.com
  2. Click "Sign Up" or "Get Started"
  3. Enter your email, phone number, and create a password
  4. Verify your email address via the verification link
  5. You'll receive a welcome email with next steps

Time required: 3 minutes

Business Verification

What happens: JamDrive verifies your business is legitimate and active.

Action required:

  1. Log in to your merchant dashboard
  2. Navigate to Onboarding > Business Verification
  3. Enter your business details:
    • Business name (as registered)
    • Business type (restaurant, grocery store, convenience store, etc.)
    • TRN number
    • Business registration number (if applicable)
    • Business address
    • Phone number
  4. Upload your business registration document (photo or PDF)
  5. Submit for verification

What we check:

  • Business name matches registration
  • TRN is valid
  • Business is active and in good standing

Time required: 5 minutes (verification review: 1-2 business days)

Tip: Ensure the business name matches exactly what's on your registration document. Mismatches will delay verification.

Identity Verification

What happens: We verify the identity of the business owner or authorized representative.

Action required:

  1. Navigate to Onboarding > Identity Verification
  2. Upload a clear photo of your government-issued ID:
    • Passport (preferred)
    • Voter ID
    • National ID
  3. Take a selfie photo for identity matching
  4. Submit for verification

Photo tips:

  • All four corners of the ID must be visible
  • Text must be clearly readable
  • No glare or shadows
  • Use good lighting

Time required: 3 minutes (verification review: 1-2 business days)

Bank Details

What happens: You set up the bank account where your earnings will be deposited.

Action required:

  1. Navigate to Onboarding > Bank Details
  2. Enter your bank information:
    • Bank name (select from list of Jamaican banks)
    • Branch name
    • Account number
    • Account holder name (must match your ID)
    • Account type (savings or current)
  3. Upload a bank statement or voided check for verification
  4. Submit
Important notes:
  • The account holder name must match the business owner name or business name
  • Earnings are deposited weekly via Stripe Connect
  • You can update bank details later if needed

Time required: 5 minutes

Tax Information

What happens: We collect tax information required for compliance and reporting.

Action required:

  1. Navigate to Onboarding > Tax Information
  2. Enter your tax details:
    • TRN (if not already provided)
    • Tax filing status
    • Whether you're registered for GCT (General Consumption Tax)
  3. Upload your TRN certificate or tax compliance document
  4. Submit

Time required: 3 minutes

Business Hours

What happens: You set your operating hours so customers know when you're open.

Action required:

  1. Navigate to Onboarding > Business Hours
  2. Set your hours for each day:
    • Monday through Sunday
    • Opening time and closing time
    • Mark days as "Closed" if applicable
  3. Save your hours

Tip: Set your hours accurately. Customers won't be able to order when you're marked as closed.

Delivery Settings

What happens: You configure how deliveries work for your restaurant.

Action required:

  1. Navigate to Onboarding > Delivery Settings
  2. Configure:
    • Delivery radius — How far you'll deliver (in km)
    • Minimum order — Minimum order amount for delivery
    • Delivery fee — Fee you charge for delivery (or set to 0 for free delivery)
    • Estimated delivery time — Typical delivery duration
    • Delivery zones — Specific areas you serve (optional)
  3. Save your settings

Recommendations:

  • Start with a 5-10km delivery radius
  • Set minimum order to JMD 500-1,000
  • Consider offering free delivery for orders over JMD 1,500 to increase average order value

Logo & Banner

What happens: You upload your branding materials that customers will see in the app.

Action required:

  1. Navigate to Onboarding > Logo & Banner
  2. Upload:
    • Logo — Square image, minimum 300x300px (PNG or JPG)
    • Banner — Wide image, minimum 1200x400px (PNG or JPG)
  3. Preview how they'll appear in the app
  4. Adjust or re-upload if needed

Image tips:

  • Use high-resolution images
  • Logo should be on a clean background
  • Banner should showcase your best dishes or storefront
  • Avoid text-heavy images (they'll be small on mobile)

Time required: 5 minutes

Menu Upload

What happens: You create your menu with all the items customers can order.

Action required:

  1. Navigate to Onboarding > Menu Upload
  2. Create categories (e.g., Appetizers, Main Courses, Drinks, Desserts)
  3. For each menu item, add:
    • Item name
    • Description (keep it brief but appetizing)
    • Price (in JMD)
    • Photo (recommended — items with photos get 3x more orders)
    • Category assignment
    • Dietary tags (optional: vegetarian, vegan, spicy, gluten-free)
    • Preparation time (optional)
  4. Mark items as available or unavailable
  5. Save your menu

Menu tips:

  • Start with your most popular items
  • Add clear, appealing descriptions
  • Price competitively (check what similar restaurants charge)
  • Include at least 5-10 items to start
  • Update regularly as items change

Time required: 15-30 minutes (depending on menu size)

This is the most important step. A complete, well-photographed menu is the #1 factor in getting orders.

Photos

What happens: You upload additional photos of your restaurant, food, and environment.

Action required:

  1. Navigate to Onboarding > Photos
  2. Upload 5-10 photos:
    • Interior/ambiance shots
    • Food close-ups
    • Storefront/exterior
    • Team photos (optional)
  3. Arrange photos in preferred order
  4. Save

Photo tips:

  • Natural lighting works best
  • Show your food at its most appetizing
  • Include variety (food, space, people)
  • Minimum resolution: 800x600px

Time required: 5 minutes

Training

What happens: You complete a short training module on using the JamDrive merchant platform.

Action required:

  1. Navigate to Onboarding > Training
  2. Review the training materials:
    • How to receive and manage orders
    • How to update your menu
    • How to handle cancellations
    • How to respond to customer reviews
    • How to view your earnings and analytics
  3. Complete the short quiz (5 questions)
  4. Submit

Time required: 10 minutes

Test Order

What happens: You place a test order to make sure everything works end-to-end.

Action required:

  1. Navigate to Onboarding > Test Order
  2. The system will guide you through placing a test order:
    • A test order will be placed on your restaurant
    • You'll receive the order notification
    • Process the order as you normally would
    • The test order will be marked as complete
  3. Confirm the test order was successful

What we verify:

  • Order notifications are received
  • Menu items display correctly
  • Pricing is accurate
  • Order processing workflow works

Time required: 10 minutes

Live!

What happens: Your restaurant is now live on the JamDrive platform and customers can start ordering!

What you get:

  • Your restaurant is listed in the JamDrive app
  • Customers in your delivery area can find and order from you
  • You'll receive real-time order notifications
  • Earnings are tracked and deposited weekly
